The four seminars organized in 2006 are a continuation of the series of seminars in the sphere of Conflict Prevention organized in cooperation with the Initiative for Peace-building and Democracy under the project “Partners in Peace and Prevention” in November and December 2005.


These seminars take into consideration the beginning of the decentralization process from July 2005 and have addressed the issue of peace-building accordingly. Bearing in mind the change of status brought forth by the decentralization process and the change of responsibilities within the municipalities, the concept for these seminars set an introduction for the participants to topics vital for the further development of the municipalities, especially promotion of the concept of conflict prevention and of the importance of the concept for stabilization of the Macedonian society, local risk assessment, communication, perspectives, opinion and responsibilities among relevant national and local actors in Macedonia. The target group were municipal council members and NGO representatives from the Municipalities Kichevo, Chair–Skopje, Centar-Skopje, Karposh-Skopje, Kriva Palanka, Kumanovo, Shtip, Kochani and Struga.
